File Photo** * LAST KING SISTERS STAR DEAD AT 82 The last remaining member of THE KING SISTERS has died, aged 82. Marilyn King lost her battle with cancer on Wednesday (07Aug13) in California. She was just 13 when she officially joined her singing siblings Donna, Yvonne, Alyce and Luise in 1951, and together they became a staple on radio shows throughout the 1940s, 1950s and 1960s. Their signature four-part harmonies influenced generations of jazz-vocal groups, and earned them a Grammy Award nomination for the 1959 album Imagination. The King Sisters also tasted TV success with their own mid-60s variety series, The King Family Show, and Marilyn appeared on shows like Laugh-In and Ford Time. The all-girl family group hit the headlines in 1985 when U.S. President Ronald Reagan invited the Kings to perform at his second inauguration. Marilyn King's grand-nephews, Win and William Butler, are the driving force behind Canadian rockers Arcade Fire.
