Formula One, Bernie Ecclestone and The Company - Thursday 1st January 1970

Formula One boss Bernie Ecclestone has filmed a controversial new advert for a Swiss watch company just weeks after he was beaten black and blue by thieves who stole his own Hublot timepiece. The promo sees the 80 year old showing off the bruises he received in the brutal mugging last month (10). He lost thousands of pounds-worth of jewellery in the incident, including his treasured Hublot watch, and has filmed the ad to promote The Company and rally against violence. The advert features the tag line, See what people will do for a Hublot. Ecclestone is said to have come up with the idea himself and pitched it to the watchmaker. Hublot's chief executive Jean-Claude Biver, says, He told us, 'Please use it to make an advertising campaign because I want to show that I'm courageous.' I thought, 'Wow, this guy has some guts.' It is also a protestation against violence that we are all afraid of today. December 2010 - England This is a PR photo.
