LATEST: Phil Spector's young wife has been told she faces a contempt of court charge if reports she's planning to prematurely speak out about her husband's murder trial are true.
Los Angeles Superior Court judge Larry Paul Fidler served a gag order on Rachelle Spector before handing over the five-month case to jury members on Monday morning (10Sep07).
The ruling comes after the troubled record producer's wife gave an interview to a British newspaper, in which she criticised the judge.
Phil Spector is charged with second-degree murder in connection with the 2003 death of actress Lana Clarkson, who was found, shot through the mouth, slumped in a chair in the foyer of Spector's Alhambra, California mansion.
Spector's defence team maintains depressed Clarkson shot herself.
Meanwhile, on his way into court on Monday, the accused insisted that reports suggesting he feared Fidler and the jury members would convict him because they disliked him weren't true.
He told reporters he felt sure the jury would "do a good job".
