Embattled music producer Phil Spector's daughter took the stand at her father's murder trial on Monday (02Feb09) to dispute the testimony of a leading prosecution witness. Nicole Spector, 26, suggested her father's ex-girlfriend, Dorothy Melvin, hadn't been completely honest when she told Los Angeles Superior Court officials she had been threatened by her former lover.
In November (08), Melvin told the court that the gun-threat incident in 1993 had left her terrified of Spector and she had vowed never to be alone with the producer again.
But, on Monday, Nicole Spector testified that she had accompanied her father and Melvin on a week-long trip to Toronto, Canada later that year.
Spector is accused of killing actress Lana Clarkson at his Alhambra, California mansion in 1993.
The prosecution in the retrial rested at the end of last month (Jan09). The lawyers maintain Spector had a history of making gun threats on women.
The producer's attorneys insist Clarkson took her own life.
