British film-maker Peter Kosminsky has been honoured at the INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL OF AUDIOVISUAL PROGRAMS in France for his body of work.

The documentary director was awarded a EUROFIPA at the annual event, in the southern French town of Biarritz last week (ends21JAN05).

French director FRANCOIS SAUVAGNARGUES paid tribute to Kosminsky, saying, "With him, the fictional treatment of reality has found a master who intelligently combines a rare narrative sense with fine analytical skill in singular works filmed with humanism."

Kosminsky has directed a series of topical hard-hitting films, including the Bosnian war-set WARRIORS, and is currently filming a documentary about late British Iraq weapons expert David Kelly, who killed himself in 2003 after a controversial BBC report accused the UK government of exaggerating the case for the Iraq war.
