Australian pop star Peter Andre has set up a charity in memory of his late brother following his death from cancer last year (12).
The Mysterious Girl hitmaker's elder sibling Andrew lost his fight against the deadly disease last December (12) at the age of 54.
The sad news prompted Andre to establish his own foundation, which will raise funds in conjunction with Britain's Cancer Research Uk charity, and he launched the project on Wednesday (10Apr13).
A post on his website reads, "I'm delighted to tell you the Peter Andre Foundation has launched. As you all know, I have a personal reason for wanting to raise money for research into cancer and raise awareness of this terrible disease...
"Losing Andrew has been devastating for me and my family but through my Foundation and your support we can change the odds for people diagnosed with cancer in the future."
A spokesperson for Cancer Research Uk adds, "We’re thrilled that Peter Andre has announced the launch of the Peter Andre Foundation.
"The Peter Andre Foundation will raise money to support our 'Cancer Awareness Roadshow'... The roadshow will give people the chance to speak to cancer awareness nurses about prevention and how to spot cancer early. With Peter’s help, we want to encourage as many people as possible to see their Gps (doctors) if they are worried about any changes to their bodies."
