The record producer, who was part of the team behind Kylie Minogue and Rick Astley's early hits, has been a model train enthusiast for years, and now he's cashing in by parting ways with trains and equipment in order to fund a charity.

In total, Waterman is selling a tenth of his collection to secure the future of the Waterman Railway Heritage Trust, which oversees his collection of full-size steam engines.

He says, "Everything I'm selling is unique. It was all built for me... They are not toys - they are works of art. That's why they are so pricey."

The auction is taking place at Dreweatts and Bloomsbury Auctions in England on Thursday night (16Apr15).
