Pete Tong Announces 'The Pete Tong Collection' Released 4 November 2013

Iconic DJ and global ambassador of electronic music, Pete Tong, has collaborated with Sony Music to create a definitive collection of house and dance music classics from the last 30 years, entitled 'The Pete Tong Collection'. The 60 track triple album will be released on 4 November.

Pete Tong's own history is synonymous with the rise of electronic music over three decades. His name has crossed over into the vernacular of modern culture with the near ubiquitous rhyming slang of "All Gone Pete Tong" - now the title both of his worldwide club brand and of his rapidly growing daily US radio show. Having been at the forefront of bringing the genre from the underground to the mainstream, Pete was the first DJ to play and premiere many of these tracks, and his own journey and career path traces the history of the music itself. Tong describes this lovingly curated collection of era defining classics as his "most personal collection to date".

The album opens with what many consider to be the seminal forerunner of the great house tunes that were to follow - 'Blue Monday' by New Order, and takes in acid house classics by trailblazers including Steve Silk Hurley, Inner City, Frankie Knuckles and Marshall Jefferson to tracks that defined Nineties club culture by the likes of Alison Limerick, Robin S and Basement Jaxx, alongside key releases from Aphex Twin, Orbital, Leftfield and Underworld. The final mix presents dance music's latest exponents - Eric Prydz, Duke Dumont, Disclosure and Calvin Harris - and closes, appropriately, with this year's definitive Daft Punk behemoth: 'Get Lucky', this is a potted history of 30 years of extraordinary music and memories, from a genre that has had an inestimable cultural impact on generations. As Tong puts it:

"I count myself very fortunate to have lived through such an amazing musical era. I have worked on many albums during my career however I'm proud to say this is the most definitive and personal to date. From the old school pioneers to the equally innovative stars of the present day this is my brief history of the incredible movement called HOUSE"
