British rocker Pete Doherty spent almost three months at a drug rehabilitation centre for free by agreeing to help publicise it during his treatment.

The Libertines star flew to the Hope Rehab Center in Chonburi, Thailand in October (14) to address his long-running heroin addiction, and he checked out shortly before Christmas (25Dec14) after getting clean.

He is now staying on an island near the clinic as he continues his recovery, and Hope boss Simon Mott has revealed staff provided a free course of treatment for the rocker in exchange for his help in publicising the facility.

Mott tells Noisey.vice.com, "Pete asked if he could have free treatment in exchange for doing Pr. So I agreed and some of the interviews are for this purpose. It isn't usual, but some clients do written and video testimonials for private clinics like ours."
