Troubled British rocker Pete Doherty will have an implant inserted into his body to help him beat his drug addictions. The Babyshambles frontman broke to news to Judge JANE MCIVOR at London's Thames Magistrates' Court during a review of his drug-testing and treatment order yesterday (13JUL06). The 27-year-old was sentenced in April (06) to two years of supervision and 18 months of drug rehabilitation. The sentencing came after Doherty pleaded guilty of charges involving the possession of heroin, cocaine and cannabis. Judge MCIvor expressed satisfaction at Doherty's progress, but told the court she was still waiting for him to submit his first negative drugs test. She told Doherty, "You are going in the right direction. It's not easy, especially in your circumstances. I appreciate that entirely. "I think your concentration should be, within six months of the order, to get a negative test."
