Troubled British rocker Pete Doherty could face legal action over his last minute cancellation of the headline slot at London festival Big Gay Out on Saturday (23JUL05).
Frontman Doherty quit his band Babyshambles just hours before they were due to take to the stage - and organisers of the pro-gay event are keen to recoup their losses after their $36,000 (GBP20,000) contract was broken.
A spokesperson says, "Doherty was supposed to play at 6pm and present Mr Gay UK with his trophy. It was a huge disappointment to Mr Gay UK, to our crowd, and to several dozen camp dancers, who were due to appear onstage with him."
Fellow rockers Electric Six were left bemused by Doherty's behaviour because they had travelled across the Atlantic to fulfil their promise, while the former LIBERTINE only lives a couple of miles away from Big Gay Out's Finsbury Park venue.
Singer DICK VALENTINE says, "We flew out from Detroit for this show and he lives round the corner. It's all a bit much. I don't care if Babyshambles are the thing or not."26/07/2005 01:52
