The emotional Pixar film's director, Pete Docter, picked up Outstanding Achievement for Directing and shared the Outstanding Achievement for Writing with Meg LeFauve and Josh Cooley, while former The Office actress Phyllis Smith was handed the Outstanding Achievement for Voice Acting for her portrayal of Sadness.

Inside Out was also honoured with Outstanding Achievement for Character Animation, Outstanding Achievement for Character Design, Outstanding Achievement for Music, Outstanding Achievement for Editorial, Outstanding Achievement for Production Design, and Outstanding Achievement for Storyboarding.

Other Animated Feature Production awards went to The Good Dinosaur (Outstanding Achievement, Animated Effects in an Animated Production), The Revenant (Outstanding Achievement for Character Animation in a Live Action Production), Kristen Schaal for Bob's Burgers (Outstanding Achievement for Voice Acting in an Animated TV/Broadcast Production), Marvel’s Avengers: Age of Ultron (Outstanding Achievement for Animated Effects in a Live Action Production), and Brazilian movie Boy and the World (Best Animated Feature-Independent), which will face off against Inside Out for the animated feature film prize at the Academy Awards on 28 February (16).
