Rocker Perry Farrell, singer Rufus Wainwright and hip-hop band The Roots are set to salute David Byrne and the Talking Heads at a special tribute concert next year (15).

ZZ Top's Billy Gibbons, O.A.R., Steve Earle and Sleigh Bells frontwoman Alexis Krauss are also among the initial artists lined up for the New York gig, which will celebrate the legacy of the Burning Down the House hitmakers.

The Music of David Byrne and Talking Heads will take place at the fabled Carnegie Hall on 23 March (15).

The charity event will benefit music education programmes for underprivileged youth.

Previous show honourees include Prince, Bob Dylan, Sir Elton John, Bruce Springsteen and Paul Simon, whose career was celebrated earlier this year (14).
