Brazilian soccer legend Pele has tied the knot for the third time.
The 75-year-old three-time soccer World Cup winner wed businesswoman Marcia Cibele Aoki in a small religious ceremony in Sao Paulo, Brazil on Saturday (09Jul16).
Pele and Marcia, who have been dating for six years, were originally due to marry in 2014, but postponed their wedding after the sportsman suffered a series of health problems.
Photos obtained by the European Pressphoto Agency, showed the couple happily posing alongside their wedding cake at Saturday's ceremony.
Pele, real name Edson Arantes do Nascimento, first met Marcia at a birthday party in New York in the 1980s, but romance only blossomed many years later.
According to Britain's The Sun newspaper, Pele told a Brazilian magazine in 2012 how he had met his future wife in an elevator in the apartment block where they both resided in 2008, and after meeting again two years later they decided to begin dating.
"Two years later (after their first 2008 meeting) we met each other again in the same elevator," he said. "I said I was renovating my apartment and Marcia, who was separated by then, invited me to see a home renovation she'd done."
Pele, regarded by many as the greatest soccer player of all-time, has wed twice before. He was married to his first wife Rosemeri dos Reis Cholbi from 1966 to 1982, with whom he had two daughters and a son.
He married for the second time in 1994, to Assiria Lemos Seixas with whom he had twins - a boy and a girl - in 1996. The couple divorced in 2008.
