The son of soccer legend Pele has been jailed in Brazil.
Retired goalkeeper Edson Cholbi Nascimento, also known as Edinho, was detained in Santos, Sao Paulo on Tuesday (08Jul14), a month after he was sentenced to 33 years in prison on money laundering charges.
The 43 year old had been released on bail while he appealed the sentence, but was taken into custody to begin his jail term.
He was convicted of the money laundering charges in May (14) after he was accused of associating with drug traffickers.
The news comes just days before Brazil's soccer World Cup tournament concludes with the final on Sunday (13Jul14).
Pele famously helped Brazil to three World Cup victories, while his soccer player son retired from the sport in 1999.
