Harry Potter has stepped off the cinema screen to play the leading role in a 3D puzzle platform game. The gamer controls Harry as he fights his way through dark corridors and the moving stairs in Hogwarts, as well as finding secret chests and hidden doorways, Harry learns new spells by completing various challenges.
Each challenge involves timed exercises which Harry must use spells to ward off giant snails, bean thieving gnomes, Cornish pixies and imps but help is at hand from multi coloured beans and chocolate frogs to heal his wounds.
Throughout his journey Harry collects wizard cards which are found in secret areas. They are kept in Harry's Folio Magi, there are 40 to collect which consist of bronze, silver, and gold each card has a different witch or wizard on it with a brief description of the witch or wizard's past. These cards are collected to allow Harry to attain access to the chamber of secrets.
Harry has supporting roles from the usual suspects Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger. He is helped along the way by Hagrid and Dumbledore who give him hints and tips. Dumbledore also tells Harry about the past before he came to Hogwarts. Harry must help his house by accumulating points to enable his house to be allowed entry to the bean room.
Harry must also act as the seeker in games of Quiddich against rival houses in Hogwarts. This is one of the most impressive features of the game. The gamer is involved in a full game of Quiddich; and must take control of Harry as he seeks out the snitch.
Bertie Botts beans are the form of currency at Hogwarts; other student's offer Harry trades allowing Harry to buy the items he needs to make potions.
During Harry's journey he has many confrontations with Draco, leader of the Slytherin.
Throughout the game Harry is let into secrets about his past, he bumps into the sorting hat which places new comers into their respective houses; it hints to Harry that he may have been placed in Slytherin rather the Gryffindor. Harry also discovers that he can talk to and understand snakes. This makes Harry think about his past and whether he should be in Slytherin.
The game allows the player to explore Hogwarts to find items and learn new spells, the controls are very simple and most of the secrets are easy to find. The game should appeal to young Harry Potter fans as it has excellent graphics and it is similar to the film.
It should also appeal to the younger age group as it has multiple mini games and different items to collect in order to progress. Young children will also enjoy Quiddich and collecting all the wizard cards.
The game has movie clips and excellent sound and visual technology. The game play is brilliant but is a little easy for an adventure and puzzle master.
