Paula Patton was "praying" for Tom Cruise as he jumped off the world's tallest building.

The 36-year-old Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol' actress said she could not go on the outside of the Burj Khalifa building - which stands at 2,723 feet tall - herself but was hopeful Tom, who returns as Ethan Hunt in the franchise, would perform his death-defying stunt without injury.

She said: "I was praying for him because it was quite intense, but he blows your mind because he's out there hanging from one of the tallest buildings in the world and he has an enormous smile on his face.

"He is meant to do this. One of the most fearless people I've ever met".

However, Paula did have to go up the building for one scene, and was not allowed to use a safety harness during it.

Speaking at the UK premiere of the movie at London's IMAX cinema in Waterloo, Paula told BANG Showbiz: "I was the only one who didn't have a harness on because my dress was too tight and I just had a stunt man holding my leg with a rope."

"By the sixth take I was so close to the window and a little bit over that I actually saw Tom and he was like 'Hey Paula, how you doing?'.

Paula was joined on the red carpet at the event by co-stars Tom Cruise, Simon Pegg and Lea Seydoux as well as actress Gillian Anderson and model Caprice.
