Veteran rocker Paul Weller almost gave up his music career after suffering a severe case of writer's block a couple of years ago.
The ex-JAM star was convinced his time in the music business was up when he found it impossible to come up with new material, but was then inspired by doing last year's (04) covers album STUDIO 150.
Weller, who is just about to release his latest album AS IS NOW, says, "To be honest there have been times when I've thought, 'That's it.' I couldn't care if I didn't write again. And about two or three years ago I got writer's block and I thought that's it, it's all over.
"Then I did the covers album Studio 150. I thought, if it's going to come back it'll find me. Then in the space of a week I wrote six or seven songs for this album."
