He has been around for as long as I care to remember. When you win the Brit Award for Outstanding Contribution, then you know that you have been around for a while. At the same time though, when you win that award you know that the music which you have been blasting out for the last couple of decades have been some s**t hot stuff.
Now though it is time for all those people who have not been fortunate to see the man himself live, now is your chance! Well kind of, Paul Weller is now set to release his live album Catch-Flame. Live at Alexandra Palace. The album has the lot to offer. It has tracks from his entire career. From The Style Council, to The Jam and obviously his Solo stuff. This is a two-disc album that has twists and turns, and ups and more ups.
What better way to start a live set with The Weaver and Out Of The Sinking, two tracks that get ya going, ready to line you up for a quality gig. With tracks like The Changingman Weller just keeps blasting the hits out and you start to realise just how big his back catalogue really is. Weller sounds fantastic both vocally and musically, & also features his band that are hold the same high standard that Weller holds. The first CD closes with Porcelain Gods/I Walk On Giled Splinters and now the expectation for the rest of the concert (Next CD) is massive. Rightly so, but Weller delivers with a just under a ten minute version of In The Crowed. This blows you away on CD never mind wondering how this would have been actually at the gig!!!! Weller proves that he is the rightful owner of the name 'The Modfather'. Then he changes all with a cover version of Wishing On A Star. Naturally he plays That's Entertainment. The run up that is already a great CD/Concert could see Weller just walk off stage and the crowed would be happy with that. They have been treated so far……… The end though consists of Long Hot Summer, when he was with The Style Council, followed by Shout To The Top and finished with A Town Called Malice.
Weller knows how to entertain and for those people that have not seen him live, this might upset them even more, because he is pure quality.
