Award-winning filmmaker Paul Cox has died at the age of 76. A cause of death was not disclosed, however Cox revealed last year (15) his transplanted liver had cancer. The director was credited as the father of independent cinema in Australia, and his 2015 movie Force of Destiny was loosely based on his own cancer battle. The Dutch-born filmmaker, who has made 19 feature films, was described by the late Roger Ebert as “one of the best directors of our time”.
