Patti Stanger, the American entrepreneur and host of 'Millionaire Matchmaker', caused a Twitter outcry on Sunday (26th September 2011) after a controversial appearance on Bravo's 'Watch What Happens Live' during which she made questionable statements about gay and Jewish people, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
The controversy began when a caller asked Stanger how she felt about long distance relationships and monogamy. Bizarrely, Stanger replied, "In the Gay world, it will always be open", before asking the caller whether he was gay. After confirming he was, Stanger added, "There is no curbing the gay man". Openly gay host Andy Cohen interrupted, "I am a gay and am down for the monogamy", but Stanger burst out laughing, asking him, "When was the last time you had a boyfriend?" Later in the show, Patti attempted to compliment a caller, saying, "First of all, you're very handsome, I thought you were straight", before Cohen again shot back, "I don't know why being straight is a compliment" - Stanger hit back, "Because he's not queen-y". Fans on Twitter began calling for the television star to be fired, but Stanger wasn't quite finished - later announcing, "Jewish men lie".
Stanger is the founder and Ceo of 'Millionaire's Club International Inc', a professional matchmaking service for millionaires only. Her first book, entitled 'Become Your Own Matchmaker: 8 Easy Steps for Attracting Your Perfect Mate', was released in 2009.
