Motherhood has prompted punk icon Patti Smith to fight for American President George W Bush's removal from office - because she can sympathise with Iraqi mums who have lost their children.

Smith has even written RADIO BAGHDAD - a touching tribute song on her new album TRAMPIN' - for grieving Iraqi mums, who have lost their loved ones in the war.

And she's now urging fans to make sure they vote in the 2004 elections, in the hope of finding a replacement for Bush.

She says, "I've been speaking and marching against the Bush administration ever since his tenure began.

"The present administration has confused the American people by linking nationalism to patriotism. To me, a patriot is someone who constantly asks questions of his government and demands answers.
