Patrick Dempsey went one better than heartthrob hero Ryan Gosling over the weekend, rescuing a teenager from a horrific car crash near his home in Malibu, California, reports ABC News.
Gosling hit the headlines last month after stopping a British journalist from walking out in front of on-coming traffic in New York, but Dempsey can truly be considered a life-saver after pulling the barely conscious Weston Masset from the wreckage. The Grey's Anatomy star stayed by the teen's side until he was airlifted to hospital and treated for concussion and an eye-injury - he is expected to make a full recovery. Weston said, "I was scared for my life. I was upside down". His first words upon seeing the television star were "Are you famous", to which Dempsey quipped, "Yeah I'm a doctor". The actor, 46, also called the boy's mother to inform her of the situation. Mary Beth Masset said, "He had a certain authority in his voice.I asked if he was a paramedic and he said no, "This is Patrick Dempsey." I thought, MCDreamy?".
Dempsey's representative declined to comment on the star's heroics. Though best known for playing Dr Derek Shepherd in Grey's Anatomy, Dempsey has also appeared in numerous big-budget Hollywood movies, such as Transformers: Dark of the Moon, in 2011.
