GREY'S ANATOMY star Patrick Dempsey is facing a lawsuit from advertising executives who allege the actor's race car team owes them money from a sponsorship deal they helped arrange.
Dempsey is a keen race car driver and co-owns the Dempsey Racing team, which competes in Grand American Road Racing Association (Grand-Am) competitions across the U.S.
Executives at Arizona-based tequila firm El Grado entered into a sponsorship agreement with the team last year (09), but now bosses at E Image Agency - who reportedly brokered the contract - have filed suit, claiming they are owed money from the deal.
In the legal papers, obtained by Reuters, E Image chiefs claim they should have been paid $3 million (£2 million), or three per cent of sales of El Grado tequila, as well as a monthly retainer and 12 per cent of any money raised for Dempsey Racing.
Advertising bosses claim to have only received $20,000 (£13,333) so far.
The lawsuit, filed at the District Court of Arizona, alleges breach of contract, fraud and conspiracy among other charges and bosses at the firm are seeking unspecified damages.
