The stars will return to the lives of Clarence Worley and Alabama Whitman for the one-night only event, directed by filmmaker Jason Reitman.

Proceeds from the star-studded live reading at Los Angeles' The Theatre at Ace Hotel on 16 December (15) will benefit Film Independent, the non-profit arts organisation that produces the Spirit Awards and LA Film Festival, among other things.

True Romance will be the fourth Tarantino script to be featured as a Live Read event - past titles have included Reservoir Dogs and Pulp Fiction, and last year (14) the director himself oversaw the world premiere read of The Hateful Eight.

Announcing the involvement of Arquette and Slater, Reitman tells WENN, "With True Romance, Quentin gave film nerds our own Sid (Vicious) and Nancy (Spungen). It's a love letter to cinema that sent a generation of us looking to find a Clarence or Alabama."
