LATEST: Paris Hilton met her fired publicist for dinner last night (07May07) to see if their relationship could be salvaged. Elliot Mintz confirmed he had parted company with the socialite in a statement on Sunday (06May07), but it seems Hilton has had second thoughts about her decision. Hilton, 26, sacked Mintz after learning she will spend 45 days in a California correctional facility after she was found guilty of violating a probation order and driving with a suspended license in court on Friday (04May07). At her hearing, Hilton told Superior Court Judge Michael Sauer that Mintz had repeatedly informed her that her license had been suspended for only 30 days and that she could still drive for work-related matters. Mintz accepted he was partially responsible for the strict sentence through misinformation, and he's left her employment over the error. But yesterday (07May07) the publicist told internet blogger Marc Malkin he was hoping to patch things up with Hilton over dinner. Mintz told Malkin the split was "probably a bit premature," adding he's "very optimistic" that the two will reunite. He said, "We had a telephone conversation on Sunday night. It was a good and healthy exchange... I think the world of her."
