A burglar entered Hollywood socialite Paris Hilton's bedroom to steal $2 million (£1.3 million) worth of jewellery, according to reports.
The theft occurred at Hilton's home in the Sherman Oaks area of Los Angeles but the heiress was not at home at the time of the incident.
According to the Los Angeles police department the burglar wore a hooded top and gloves as he gained entry through the front door of the property.
He ransacked her room and reportedly stole $2 million in jewellery. It is not clear whether any other items were removed.
It is understood Hilton, 27, was out partying with Katy Perry when the burglary is believed to have occurred at 05:00 local time on Friday morning.
But it is not clear whether the security guard who reported the burglary has been dismissed from his post.
Police are confident they will be able to identify and arrest the burglar, the Los Angeles Times reported.
LAPD deputy chief Charlie Beck told the newspaper: "I expect we'll be able to apprehend the culprit here based on some of the information we have."
