Paris Hilton looks set to avoid jail following her arrest for drug possession in Las Vegas last month (Aug10) - she has been offered a plea deal, according to a report.
The hotel heiress was taken into custody and charged with the felony after investigators allegedly found cocaine in a purse she was carrying following a traffic stop outside the Wynn resort.
She denied the purse was hers and is due to be arraigned in court on 27 October (10).
The felony drug charge carries a maximum four-year jail term but Hilton is unlikely to be locked up for the crime after prosecutors gave her the option of pleading guilty to two misdemeanours instead.
According to Eonline.com, Hilton could escape the prison punishment by admitting to one drug count and one charge of lying to a police officer.
Her representative has refused to comment on the report, telling People.com he would not "talk about this case except in court".
Hilton previously served time behind bars in 2007 for a probation violation relating to a 2006 charge for driving under the influence (DUI).
