Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2005 – Xbox Review

Challenge Tiger Woods on your terms! Take on the man who has changed golf forever!

The only problem you will find with this game is managing to turn it off to eat and sleep and go to work or school.

It was the world famous author P.G. Wodehouse who said “ Golf, like the measles, should be caught young, for, if postponed to riper years, the results may be serious.” There is truth in the statement and it is fair to say that Tiger Woods PGA 2005 does reward committed practice.

Another very famous quote on the sport from another world famous author is “Golf is a good walk spoiled.” -Mark Twain. This quote doesn't apply to Tiger Woods PGA 2005 because the fact is you can play the world's greatest courses in the company of the worlds greatest players and the most famous legends of all time from the comfort of your armchair or sofa. What more could any golf fan ask for?

The innovative new Tiger-Proofing technology allows the player to create unique courses that will change the way golf is played. Using the Tiger-Proofing system, you can let you imagination run wild and design your own personal, ideal golf courses. It enables you to modify course dynamics and really test the computers PGA TOUR® characters by adding lengthier Tiger tees, tighter fairways, dramatic undulations to greens, deeper bunkers, higher rough, and much more.

Another impressive element to the game is an enhanced EA SPORTS Game Face™ featuring non-proportional bone scaling and texture blending that will expand the opportunity to create more realistic looks. After creating your own golfer and making a name for yourself, you can then play a round with some of the golfing greats.

Tiger vision makes its debut in the PGA tour series. You can now line up shots in the same way Tiger does – this feature does make putting rather easy but is very limited and can make the difference when you really need it.

EA have also been working on Create-a-swing, from the funkiest swing imaginable to a picture-perfect masterpiece; create your own swing with all the intricacies you can think of.

The on course atmospheres in the Tiger Woods PGA series have always been something special, now they are better than ever. Wind, waves, birds, flowing grass in the rough, beautiful sunrises and sunsets and awesome player animations and cut scenes all make for a near perfect on course experience.

As you can probably work out, I am a huge fan of this title. I suggest anybody with the slightest interest in the sport should add this one to their collection. You will find yourself returning to this game again and again and by the time you are getting bored EA will be ready with the 2006 version to keep it all fresh. Get swinging!
