Limited Edition 12" Soldier Girl remixes by Death In Vegas and RJD2

The Polyphonic Spree, currently putting the finishing touches to their second album at home in Dallas, release a special Soldier Girl 12” single on April 14th.

Side A sees Death in Vegas return the remix favour following the Spree’s radical, pyschedelic interpretation of their “Scorpio Rising”.

Firing a spindly, atmospheric guitar line over the top of the original and layering guitars and effects as they go, DiV twist the original joyous singalong into something far darker and more disturbing.

Meanwhile, on the flip, rising hip hop star, RJD2, takes “Soldier Girl” into whole new dimensions. Combining 80’s synthetic horn stabs, Miami Vice like keyboards and a slamming hip hop beatz assault, the vocal and instrumental versions on the 12” will get dancefloors bouncing across the UK.

Both mixes are a worthy addition to the RJD2 remix and production canon that includes work for Cannibal Ox and Aesop Rock alongside his own, hugely acclaimed “Rain” single.

The Polyphonic Spree return for more live shows in June and July of this year. Their first show back in the UK will be at The Glastonbury Festival, their first performance at the event and sure to be one not to miss.

The band then undertake a short tour prior to their appearance as second headline on the second stage at T in the Park on Saturday August 12th.

Interestingly, the band’s first ever UK festival appearance was opening the Main Stage at T in the Park only last year, a performance that saw the Scottish press bandy about words like “genius” (Big Issue In Scotland). More festival dates will be announced soon.

Dates are as follows:

June

Day tbc - Glastonbury Festival
Monday 30th - Manchester Academy

July

Tuesday 1st - Birmingham Academy
Wednesday 2nd - Nottingham Rock City
Thursday 3rd - Cambridge Corn
Friday 4th - London, Brixton Academy
Saturday 12th - T in the Park
