The pursuit of originality is like the London Marathon, initially there are thousands of entrants all hungrily pursuing their goal. Then when the race is run they all have their own beliefs and reasons as to why they found themselves finishing in the middle of the pack. However, Joel Gibb and his troop of colourful Canadians gaily skip in front of the aforementioned majority; teasing them as they go with their brand originality that is encapsulated in this crisp release from their second

album ‘Mississauga Goddam’. The twanging and jangling instrumentals will have your body parts shaking like the ground on which Alex Ferguson currently treads at Manchester United. Then Mr. Gibb’s commanding and soothing voice caresses the senses as he sojourns in the positive elements of existence;

“I believe in the good of life, cos I kneel for a taste of man.

I believe in the taste of wine, cos I did not step on a land mine”

Not only do The Hidden Cameras produce such exhilarating music, but they give you the perfect put down to life’s moaners and whiners. To their every gripe you can simply retort; “at least you have not just stepped on a land mine”!
