Album Release and Tour |
Not Since Janes Addiction has a rock band combined such a strong artistic bent with such unpredictability Kerrang! Released on the 5th of August 2002 on Rough Trade Records, Drink Me is the second album release from Queen Adreena. The album was produced by Morgan Nicholls, Ken Thomas and Queen Adreena with mixing and additional production by Peter Reardon (Clawfinger, insane Clown Posse) Formed at the tail end of the last millennium, Queen Adreena first came to the publics attention with the album Taxidermy in 2000, with Kerrang pronouncing it, ferocious, compelling, uncompromising and stellar whilst the N.M.E eulogised about their, ability to walk the tightrope between serrated guitar madness and genuinely beautiful, barely-there minimalism. However its since the release of Taxidermy that the band have truly come into their own. Stabilising the line up with the addition of Pete Howard on drums and through incessant touring Queen Adreena have honed their inimitable brand of frankly unsettling aggressive-art rock. Drink Me is everything youd expect from a band firing on all cylinders, this is probably the most erotic album youll hear all year. From the pile-driving riffs and eerie melody of opening song (and the albums first single) Pretty Like Drugs through to the twisted, addictive melody of Razorblade Sky and beautiful composure of Desert Lullaby ending with the sonic experimentalism of epic closing track For I Am the Way. Drink Me is the album Queen Adreena have always threatened to make.
