February. The chance to see him in such an intimate environment, and share in the celebration of his first release, is an opportunity you won’t want to pass up.

Be one of the first to experience something different funky and fresh. Set The Tone has already been supported by tastemaker DJs such as Trevor Nelson on Radio 1; it reached #1 on Choice FM’s R&B chart and climbed to the A list on 1Xtra. The video for this introductory single was shot in the United States and looks set to bring Nate the respect and success he deserves, while providing a taste of what is to come from this future star, who is already getting major plays on MTV Base and Channel U .

Set The Tone is a soul classic with sparse beats, uplifting rhythms and a feel good funky drive throughout the track. The single features the original and two 12” mixes with guest appearances from rapper Shaun Hollywood. Having already won over the soul and R&B worlds, the mainstream release of this track will help break Nate with a whole new audience.

This release is completed by the addition of Pretend, a collaboration with The Emmanuel Project, is a treat for those that have already supported Set The Tone and love their soul music. It has an infectious swing-beat rhythm with hooky vocals in a Musiq Soulchild kinda vibe - a clever production, which is not too far from the urban market yet so unique.

Having been released as a download only in 2004, Set The Tone will finally reach the shops in February, throwing down a marker that Nate will more than live up to with his debut album later in the year.

BIOGRAPHY

Nate James describes himself as a soul singer. He is much more than that though. Not only is he the hottest up & coming artist in the UK right now, but he is also a potential global star, with the look, the image and the sound to take on the world. Set The Tone is Nate’s first single and in OneTwo Records he has found the right home for this debut with a label that shares his vision.

In a world where everyone has grown tired of manufactured music and artists, Nate James is the perfect remedy. Having recorded his debut album independently, Nate has enjoyed the freedom to develop his own style, both musically and visually. A born performer, anyone who witnessed his recent live shows (he’s played sensational sets at venues across the UK recently including MTV’s Baselounge in London) have left knowing that they’ve witnessed something special. While his vocal delivery is unique it hasn’t stopped the comparisons to legends such as Maxwell, Lenny Kravitz and Stevie Wonder!

With more live shows on the horizon Nate is continuing to build a fanbase, which he hopes will stick with him as his career goes from strength to strength. Through his own website www.natejames.com fans can download Set The Tone, which has been supported by tastemaker DJs such as Trevor Nelson on Radio 1; it reached #1 on Choice FM’s R&B chart and climbed to the A list on 1Xtra. Now with a colourful video shot in the States, this introductory single looks set to bring Nate the success he deserves, while providing a taste of what is to come from this future star.

His debut album features co-writes with some of the top names in the industry including Eg White, Rob Davis and Peter Vetesse. Nate James is clearly one of the most exciting talents to come out of the UK in recent years. Watch him fly in 2005!
