The sound of white

Another Delta Goodrem! Missy Higgins hails from Australia and is set to repeat her success over here in the UK.

Her debut album “The sound of white” is released on June 13 th 2005; produced by former Roxy Music bassist and producer of the Smiths John Porter, her music contains mixes of pop, soul and perfect guitar beats assisted with talented vocals!

I can also recognise hints of Norah Jones in “All for believing”, it just has emotional lyrics and at the same time it has a warm sense of security.

“Scar” is my favourite song! It’s upbeat but at the same time it is a realisation song, it reflects upon moments of people’s lives. This single went straight to the top of the charts in Australia and became the most played song on radio of 2004. She also won Best Pop Release for “Scar” – which is quite an achievement!!!

Her first album (self titled), was a massive success. It spent nine months at the top of the Australian charts.

As I was listening to “Nightminds”, I literally got goose pimples; this song just touches certain nerves and is definitely a song for the future! It also reminded me that this girl hasn’t been in the industry long, what a great talent.

She is a brilliant song writer and her vocals just deliver melodic harmonies.

The album oozes class and has great acoustic sessions with beautifully played pianos and each song has its own individuality.

What is great about this record is that it’s appealing to all aspects of the musical genre. She has the indie edge of Tori Amos, the voice of Delta Goodrem and the arrangements of Norah Jones.

I also love the different types of instruments she uses, its unbelievable to hear that this young starlet has such diverse depth to her music. “Any day now” she’s her produce a spectacular track that is just her on her piano – it’s sort of personal, like she’s playing it just for the people listening! It has an intimate touch! I can imagine her being great live, especially in acoustic sessions!!!

“Katie” is a great song too, the vocals are amazing!!!!

I just totally love this album; I think everyone else will love it too!!!

Check Missy out on tour this summer on 23.07.2005 - The Borgata Music Box - Atlantic City, NJ, 19.07.2005 - Horseshoe Tavern - Toronto, ON, 14.07.2005 - Lakefront Pavilion @ Northerly Island, Chicago and 14.06.2005 - Knitting Factory – Hollywood.
