Apply some pressure

If you like the Libertines you’ll love these guys. They originate from Newcastle upon Tyne and are hailed as the next big thing by Zane Lowe.

“Apply Some Pressure”, released 21 st February, is one of the best songs in the top 20 at the minute. They provide a fresh sound in an era where everyone loves to rock. However, Maximo Park is typical English boys having fun with their music. They’re not false in any way – just trying to do what they do best.

The B-sides to this track are also phenomenal; “The coast is always changing” is brilliant with its fast pace guitar and keyboards (which is unusual to have in a punk band). The bass guitar is too brilliant.

Their album, “A certain trigger” reached number 15 in the charts and is continuously doing the business on radio stations and on the box. I mean they were on TOTP’s, what an achievement.

To check out Maximo Park this summer, they’re going to be on the John Peel Stage at this year’s Glastonbury Festival.

Also catch Tom, Duncan, Paul, Archis and Lucas on 9 th July in T in the Park, performing in the X tent.
