Martina Topley Bird, the vocalist whose highly acclaimed 2003 album Quixotic' was nominated for the prestigious Mercury Music Prize is set to release the single Soul Food' on 19th April.
Available only as a downloadable release Soul Food' will be available from Martina's website www.martinatopleybird.com and other selected websites. We are also offering interview footage of Martina talking about the single to run alongside editorial.
The single will be backed by a live version of Too Tough to Die, Anything and Ilya which were taken from the Zoe Ball XFM studio session recorded on 28th August 2003.
The download will cost 1.50 for the single Soul Food & b-side Too Tough To Die. The single and all 3 b-sides will cost 3.00.
Ranging from ambient ballads to swamp-boogie, from shattering rock to brutal electronica, Quixotic' was released to huge critical acclaim. Vocally Martina evokes singers of yesteryear with a nod towards the likes of Billy Holiday and Nina Simone.
The release of Soul Food' will be supported by a gig at the legendary Jazz Caf in London on April 20th. This will be Martina's first UK show of the year. Martina will be playing further dates in the Summer throughout Europe, including the prestigious Montreux Jazz Festival on Thursday 8th July.
