Kasabian - Live from Brixton Academy - Album Review

Live from Brixton Academy
(released for digital download only)

Admittedly I am a big Kasabian fan and admittedly I loathe and detest live albums, one of my all time pet hates, the reason being is because of jealousy. Jealous of the fact that I have missed an unbelievable gig and to rub salt in the wounds I have to listen to it on cd. On live cds you cannot feel the atmosphere, you know you are listening to a cd. Kasabian, live from Brixton academy proved me wrong. You forget you are listening to a cd and if you close your eyes you are actually in the Brixton academy, you can feel and almost taste the atmosphere, the sweat of all the people surrounding you, the feel of beer down your back from people throwing it, the smell of the joint being smoked beside you.

I have shivers when the band start playing ID. This review is more like a gig review than a cd review and I need to open my eyes and realise I am not in Brixton Academy; I am at home typing the review. This is not your usual run of the mill live cd, this cd places you at the gig. All the favourites are there on the album; reason is treason, processed beats and club foot. Also new material such as 55, Nightworkers and Pan Am Slit Scan, the first two being punk like in sound and the latter being almost trippy. Whether a fan or not of the band it cannot be denied that these boys can play live! Yet another band that can only get better, though there is not much to improve on. Hopefully a new album to be released soon to follow up the self-entitled debut album and to satisfy the likes of myself until they tour again and I can actually get to see them.
