Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Askaban PC Review

A Bad Case of Hogwarts!

Well here we go again yet another in the Harry Potter series that's release in time to spoil the story line of the film but more importantly perfectly placed to keep the kids busy during the holidays.

As per the others in the collection Prisoner of Azkaban ™ is a first person journey into spells, imps and the fart lighting fire crabs. Collect cauldron cakes, pumpkin pasties and Bertie Botts every-flavour beans which you can use in the shop or trade with other trainee wizards for chocolate (stamina) Frogs, wizard trading cards or passwords for various secret passages.

The game itself takes its time to train you for the adventures in hand and lets the members of your team (Harry, Ron and Hermione) specialise in certain aspects of spell casting.

Controls are the same as previous incarnations, easy to learn and quite intuitive. Looks wise the game oozes class and really brings the magical world of Hogwarts to life which is probably its main saving grace.

My main problem with the game is the ease in which it can be finished…..now I understand I am probably way over the hill in comparison to the titles market audience but to add at least one harder skill level would have made the game play last far longer and would have added a sense of achievement. There are stamina boost scattered absolutely every where so even if you get a complete hammering in a battle (which would only happen if you visited the bathroom whilst in combat) it will only be a matter of seconds before you are back to full strength.

So here it is if you are under 14 and a mad Harry Potter fan then this is definitely the game for you……if on the other hand you fancy a serious challenge and need a game to fill up the blank times in the impending summer break, look elsewhere.
