Earth The Californian Love Dream - Girls Fighting - Single Review

Earth The Californian Love Dream
Girls Fighting

‘Girls Fighting’ is follow up single from ‘In The Garden’ and ‘Porn Star’ by Earth The Californian Love Dream. They’ve created a really heavy guitar riff that is instantly infectious and gives that American grunge/rock sound. The whole band is really tight and would kick many bands in the ass with this effort. The lead male singer’s lyrics are in the rock vein talking about girls fighting. They’re not truly inspirational but fit in well in the spirit of rock. ‘Girls Fighting’ is good track that should have many a person moshing or playing air guitar to it.

We see a very different side to ETCLD with the other tracks on this single. ‘Pink Pink Skin’ is a really soulful folky track. It still has shades of rock but more in the Neil Young style due to the acoustic guitar. It’s an upbeat track and the singer shows a more sensitive side saying lines like ‘...the hardest thing to do is stand alone’, that is truly heart warming and catchy. ‘Butterfly’ is even more chilled and kind of reminds me of Jeff Buckley. It’s a short tune that catches a soulful serene mood.

ETCLD have made a successful single that has a lot of diversity. It shows they are a flexible band who has a lot of different styles. All the tracks are good in their own way.
