The Nextmen Amongst The Madness

Meeting whilst still at school in Cambridgeshire producers Brad Baloo and Dom Search have gone from spinning hip hop for free at their local discos to playing prestigious venues such as the Brixton Academy, The Scala, the Blue Note and Rubber Soul alongside the likes of Eminem, High & Mighty and The Scratch Perverts. The release of their debut album ‘Amongst The Madness’ caused a storm in the UK and gained them a huge amount of respect both within the hip-hop community and the British music scene as a whole. This led to them being asked to record the music for the hit Channel 4 series ‘The Hip Hop Years’.

Hip-hop may be at the heart of the Nextmen but they refuse to limit themselves to one genre. Search has contributed to material on the Groove Armada album, Alex Gopher and released a solo EP 'Fracture', also on Scenario. Baloo is involved with Advertising the Invisible who had material out on Marble Bar Records. As a production team their work includes remixes for Masta Ace, London Posse, Pharcyde, Aim, Souls Of Mischief, and new Telstar signing Nicole. The duo are also currently working on new material for recent Talkin Loud signing Skinnyman.

In recent months they have been locked in the lab cooking up fresh new beats for their forthcoming album. Due for release in September the LP will feature the likes of Rodney P, Mystro, Ty, Penultimate and Soulson amongst others. The single features mic duties courtesy of Mystro on the A side ‘Next Trend’, which showcases the Nextmen’s trademark fat beats and booming bass around an infectious vocal hook. Mystro then teams up with Braintax on the flip, ‘Liven It Up’, which does exactly what it says on the tin – lively rhymes, funky guitar and dem Nextmen beats again - it’ll get the party jumpin’!

There are also rumours that they have produced a mix CD entitled ‘Listen and Lose Weight With The Nextmen’. It features masses of exclusive tracks and the odd cheeky bootlegs as well as that infamous Public Enemy remix. You can also find The Nextmen DJing every 4th Saturday down at Friends & Family at The Embassy on Essex Road. Next date 25th May.
