Creamfields 2005

August Bank Holiday weekend; that can only mean one thing; CREAMFIELDS!

It’s hardly surprising that Creamfields was voted Best Dance Festival when you look at the line-up: Dj’s Tong, Halliwell. Jules, Fontaine, Maas, Layo & Bushwacka, Tissera, Savage, Peterson, Fat Boy Slim….. etc, etc, etc, the list goes on and on. Every one a master at work and at the top of his or her game. Just space for a few honourable mentions: Eddie Halliwell, Pete Tong, Timo Maas, 2 Many Dj’s and Proteus. And a special mention for the Gurn Bus…. Those guys are mad!!

And the live acts? Audio Bullies were up first and despite the small crowd at that time did a grand job with a 45 minute set including their current hit ‘My Baby Shot Me Down’. We’ll be hearing much more from them in the future.

They were followed by Caged Baby and Infusion, who were both excellent.

As darkness fell Faithless took to the stage and were simply brilliant ; the sea of bodies streaming across the site to catch their set had to be seen to be believed. For me they were the highlight of the live stage. A peerless performance; from the opening notes of Insomnia, to God is a DJ, with all their other hits in between they were unstoppable and unbeatable.

What can you say about Basement Jaxx? They closed the live stage with a storming set and some high speed costume changes. This is a live act at its peak and if their energy and commitment are anything to go by they’re going to be at the top for a long time to come. The way they’ve turned dance music on its head and redefined its boundaries is energising the whole genre and can only bode well for the future.

So, apart from a couple of quibbles (the toilets were disgusting and most of the food no better) the whole event was a triumph.

Roll on next year!!
