Cornershop are back still keeping their Indian influence with ‘Topknot’. This track is very experimental with a real progressive sort of sound. The beats are really funky with a definite tabla influence, as well as a touch of ragga influence also. It creates a really bouncy rhythm with crisp snares to keep you stuck to the floor. There’s soulful vocals sung by Bubbley Kava and she provides a bit of rapping as well. A bit of sitar is in the mix also for that that truly Indian feel. All in all it’s very original and progressive. ‘Hotrocks’ is
the second track on this single and features Rowetta singing the vocals. This is more progressive ambient music that has funky break beats, ethereal keys and wa wa guitar. Both tracks are cool and provide Cornershop with an inventive comeback.
