Actor Oscar Isaac was hospitalised after contracting an infection from an animal bite.

The Drive star was attacked by a cat he had been petting in his neighbourhood.

He tells, "I was living in New Jersey, and I was reading a book on my porch there. And (Oswald) came up to me... he was the sweetest little cat, and he started rubbing on me and purring. And then at one point, he just bit my hand, out of nowhere!"

Awaking up the next day to find he had suffered a bad reaction to the bite, Isaac rushed to hospital where he was diagnosed with an infection.

He continues, "They (doctors) were pumping me with antibiotics, because it got in my lymphatic system."

After the hospitalisation, Issac would come face-to-face with another cat, on the set of his new movie Inside Llewyn Davis.

He says, "But it was for the Coens (Joel and Ethan), so I was like, 'I'll do it. That's Ok'."
