Former boxing champion and entertainer Oscar De La Hoya has returned to rehab, two years after battling cocaine and alcohol addictions in a treatment centre.
The retired sportsman, who is now a top fight promoter, will miss this weekend's (14Sep13) big clash between Floyd Mayweather, Jr. and Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez, which he has helped stage through his Golden Boy Promotions company, because he'll be in counselling sessions.
A statement from De La Hoya reads: "I will not be at the fight this Saturday to cheer Canelo to victory since I have voluntarily admitted myself into a treatment facility. I explained this to Canelo and he understood that my health and longterm recovery from my disease must come first.
"Thank you for your understanding. I ask for your support and privacy during this difficult time for me and my family."
