British actor Orlando Bloom is taking a step back from the silver screen to learn the basics he missed out on in his speedy rise to stardom.

Bloom, who shot to fame following his role in the blockbuster trilogy The Lord Of The Rings, feels he still has a lot to discover about acting, and maintains Hollywood does not afford him the time to do it.

The 28-year-old says, "I've got a lot to learn and I think I need to go back and do some theatre and some smaller movie roles where I can keep learning my craft without the weight of a huge production hanging over me.

"On a big movie time is so precious and is not something you are afforded the luxury of.

"I would like the opportunity to have time to create characters."
