Oprah Winfrey fears she'll put women off the idea of getting their ears pierced after agreeing to have her agonising piercing session taped for TV.
The 51-year-old media mogul had dreamed of having her ears pierced for years, but feared it would be too painful.
She eventually caved in to an executive producer on her daily talk show when it was suggested Winfrey's session would make for great TV.
Winfrey says, "There was a moment when I was doing it when I thought to myself, 'I should not have let my executive producer talk me into doing that on TV.'"
In the taped episode of her show, Winfrey is seen tearfully repeating to her piercer, "I should not have done this on TV."
Winfrey is now delighted she went through with the small operation because now she can treat herself to a pair of pink diamond earrings.
She adds, "Other people want to climb mountains and jump out of planes. I wanted to get my ears pierced because you can just wear cooler earrings.
"Also I was thinking of buying myself some pink diamonds and really you shouldn't have pink diamonds if you're gonna have clip-ons."
