Oprah Winfrey has shot down rumours that she got married in secret.
The talk show host and her partner Stedman Graham have been together since 1986 and got engaged in 1992. So when there were reports that the pair tied the knot over the weekend (03-04Sep16) people who knew Oprah well were quick to get in touch, despite the star now confirming no ceremony took place.
"6 people who know me well have called today congratulating me or surprised they weren't invited to my wedding. IT's NOT TRUE!!" she told fans on Twitter.
Her friend Malika Garrett was quick to respond with a photo of the cover of U.S. Star magazine showing the couple on the cover with the headline, 'Oprah & Stedman Dream Wedding,' insisting this is where she saw the news.
"OK.. I was like what's going on??" Oprah replied.
Oprah, 62, has previously insisted she isn't a traditional woman and that although Stedman asked for her hand in marriage, she doesn't believe they'd stay together if they did say 'I do'.
"The very idea of what it means to be a wife and the responsibility and sacrifice that carries - I wouldn't have held that very well," she told U.S. Hello! magazine back in 2013.
