British pop star Olly Murs was ordered to take a break from life in the spotlight after his struggle with depression and alcohol abuse left him feeling "like a zombie".
The Troublemaker singer launched a music career after finishing second in the 2009 edition of U.K. reality Tv series The X Factor but he turned to booze and became depressed when he struggled to adapt to his new celebrity lifestyle.
Murs admits he "totally lost the plot" and his management team forced him to take a break after he broke down during a meeting.
The pop star tells Britain's Event magazine, "It was straight off the back of The X Factor tours. I was drinking too much, I'd always want a drink - vodka and orange - before I performed... I was moody all the time. I was doing these crazy 16-hour days, seven days a week, and the reality was I couldn't handle it but I couldn't admit that to myself, let alone anyone else.
"I was like a zombie but underneath it all I was just worrying about what was going to happen to me and I was actually depressed... It just built up and up. In the end I was sitting in a meeting and I just started crying. I don't think my management knew up until that point what was going on. I burst into tears and they told me to take a break."
