Grease star Olivia Newton-John was surprised to fall in love with her husband late in life after suffering severe heartache.
The 68-year-old singer had been dating cameraman Patrick MCDermott for nine years when he disappeared while on an overnight fishing trip off the California coast in 2005.
In 2008 authorities declared he had likely drowned, but recent reports have claimed investigators have uncovered evidence he is alive and living with another woman in Mexico.
After the heartbreaking disappearance, Olivia threw herself into dating, but wasn't expecting to find love before meeting husband John Easterling, whom she married in 2008.
The British-Australian singer tells People magazine, "I dated a little bit, but I wasn't expecting to fall in love with him and then bam!"
The star says she is still troubled by not knowing whether her ex died or ran off with another woman, but has now found the love of her life, something she never expected to happen at almost 60 years old.
"One of the hardest things is not knowing," Olivia says. "I'm very lucky I have a wonderful, beautiful husband who is just so loving and fantastic. I always tell my friends you're never too old to find love. I found the love of my life at 59 going on 60! I'm grateful."
Her husband John, also in his sixties, owns a company that imports wild herbs from the Amazon rainforest to sell as healing products, a passion of Olivia's.
"His (John's) passion is botanicals and healing people with nature," she adds. "He's just really great."
