Actress and singer Olivia Newton-John has spoken out for the first time over speculation her missing boyfriend may have faked his own death. The GREASE star said she'd be "thrilled" if rumours Patrick McDermott has been spotted "alive and well" in Mexico are true. MCDermott is suspected of faking his death during a fishing trip last year (05) in a bid to escape mounting debts and possible jail time over large amounts of unpaid child support. According to newspaper reports, three separate witness claim to have seen MCDermott on Mexico's remote Baja Peninsula as recently as two weeks ago. In an interview on Australian television Newton-John said, "It's obviously very distressing for everyone in the family. We just miss him and love him and we'd be thrilled if it's true." Yesterday (12JUN06) the singer was honoured by Queen Elizabeth II for her lifelong services to the entertainment industry. The 57-year-old was appointed an Officer in the Order of Australia and revealed of MCDermott "I'm sad that he wasn't here to enjoy this. He'd be very proud of this." Newton-John and MCDermott dated for nine years before his disappearance.
